Band Members
Bandleader, Vocals, Guitar & Songwriting
Cameron sings, writes, and plays rhythm guitar for Slow Down Idiot, and leads the band. Her favorite artists include Radiohead, Bjork, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, and Taylor Swift. She studied Music Composition in college. Her first serious instrument was trumpet, which she played in jazz bands, wind ensembles, and orchestras for 9 years. She has also had Lyme disease for almost 20 years, which is fun for her. Her favorite TV shows include Bojack Horseman, Fleabag, and Supernatural.
Drums
Shashank is the drummer for Slow Down Idiot. He hails from India and his drumming is heavily influenced by the music of Porcupine Tree, Led Zeppelin, Tool, Karnivool and Animals as Leaders, but mostly Porcupine Tree because his favourite drummer (Gavin Harrison) is from that band. He has been playing the drums for the past 15 years and is currently working on broadening his drumming horizon by trying out other styles of music like Latin, African and Jazz drumming. He also loves to do outdoorsy things like hiking, bouldering, snowboarding and surfing, as well as read books, play video games, watch podcasts, TV shows and movies, and make art when the day feels like it needs art.
Guitar, Vocals & Songwriting
Kai plays guitar, sings, and (sometimes) writes for Slow Down Idiot. Born in Taiwan, he grew up listening to Khalil Fong, who inspired him to start self-learning guitar and exploring genres other than Mandarin Pop. He enjoys any music with infectious grooves and feels (check out his dance and intermediate groove playlists). His favorite artists include Vulfpeck, Khalil Fong, Sunset Rollercoaster, D’Angelo, and Black Country, New Road. He also loves video games and TV shows with great stories, some recent favorites including Baldur’s Gate 3, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Andor, and Better Call Saul.
Bass
Sebastian is the bass player for Slow Down Idiot. His primary influences are from various rock groups such as the Beatles, Los Lobos, and Steely Dan. He is from the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California, and has his musician roots in Jazz and Symphonic Orchestra, with knowledge of woodwind instruments and orchestral arrangements. He also loves playing video games on his Nintendo systems, and is a high school History teacher in the bay area.
